Description
Opening Act – 8:30 PM: Marty
Marty embodies a style of folk songwriting rooted more in the tradition of Georges Brassens than Bob Dylan. A multi-instrumentalist deeply influenced by folk music, he has accompanied French artist Olivia Ruiz over the years and has been involved in several collective projects, including Les Croquants, La Varda, and Le Duo Presque Classique.
On stage, he is joined by his faithful musical companions: folk guitar, banjo, mandolin, Weissenborn guitar, musical saw, and ukulele. His songs, at the crossroads of storytelling and melody, are the result of valuable collaborations with S. Mimoun (Debout sur le Zinc), P. Lebas (La Ruda), C. Garau, and his brother Éric Marty.
The result is an organic folk sound infused with western and old-time influences, all in the service of French chanson.
9:30 PM: Têtes Raides
The iconic collective of the French rock scene, Têtes Raides, will make a stop at the Carcassonne Festival for a poetic, festive, and timeless evening on Place Carnot.
Founded in 1984 in the Paris suburbs under the name Red Ted, the group adopted the name Têtes Raides in 1987. Originally influenced by the punk scene, their sound was primarily electric. Beginning with their third album, however, their musical universe took a new direction. Christian Olivier writes the lyrics and melodies and occasionally adapts poetic texts.
The band arranges and performs its music live, appearing since 1990 in venues across Paris and throughout France, as well as on major festival stages such as the Printemps de Bourges, Vieilles Charrues, Francofolies, and the Avignon Festival. Têtes Raides have also performed in theaters, creating original musical productions and participating in various activist initiatives.
Christian Olivier’s distinctive voice is accompanied by accordion and percussion, alongside Serge Bégout on guitar, Grégoire Simon on saxophone, Pierre Gauthé on trombone, Jean-Luc Millot on drums, Jeanne Robert on violin, Pascal Olivier on bass guitar, and Edith Bégout on keyboards, sometimes joined by guest musicians.
The visual identity created by Les Chats Pelés for the albums, posters, and booklets gives each release a unique and timeless artistic character.
From 1988 to the present day, Têtes Raides have continuously alternated between live performances and recording projects.
