Description

Carcassonne is hosting the historic Olympic Torch Relay as a stopover town. A major event and a unique promotional tool to highlight the city and its region on a national and international level. The City of Carcassonne, the Department of Aude and the Centre des Monuments Nationaux, in conjunction with the Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games (OCOG), are working to organise a major public festival on Thursday 16 May 2024 to celebrate the arrival of the flame in Carcassonne.
The event, which will be free and open to all, will see the last torchbearer light the cauldron at the foot of the medieval city.

The town has decided to extend the celebrations from 16 March to 16 May 2024, by involving all the sports associations in a series of free events open to the public every Saturday and every day during the school holidays. The festivities will take place at two main venues: the Square André Chénier and the Cité des Sports. The City of Carcassonne is fully mobilised to bring these games to life and unite the people of Carcassonne around the values of Olympism!
