Last update 15/10/2026

Description

Tatiana Solovieva Production, in association with Opéra 2001, presents The Sleeping Beauty.

King Florestan XIV and his wife, the Queen, announce that a christening will be held to celebrate the birth of their daughter, Aurora. All the fairies in the kingdom are invited, each bringing a special gift for the princess.

As the fairies bestow upon her beauty, generosity and grace, they are interrupted by the unexpected arrival of the horrible and wicked fairy Carabosse, furious at not having been invited to the christening.

Filled with malice and rage, she casts a curse upon Princess Aurora: before her sixteenth birthday, she will prick her finger and die. Fortunately, the Lilac Fairy has not yet bestowed her gift upon the princess.

The Lilac Fairy’s powers are not strong enough to undo Carabosse’s curse. However, she declares that the princess will indeed prick her finger, but will not die. Instead, she will fall into a deep sleep lasting one hundred years and will be awakened by a prince’s kiss.

Duration: 2 hours, including intermission.
