Description

The greatest representative of flamenco ballet in the world, Sara Baras, is featured at the 2025 Festival de Carcassonne for an exceptional performance: “Vuela,” a tribute to Paco de Lucía!

As a choreographer, director, and dancer, she has gathered a passionate audience worldwide after more than 30 years of enchanting spectators with a typically Spanish intensity. The 2003 Spanish Dance Prize, the 2020 British Olivier Award, the 2020 Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts, and being the artist who holds the record for the most performances—over 200—in the history of the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris are just some of the achievements she has accomplished throughout her career.

With her own company, “Ballet Flamenco Sara Baras,” founded in 1998, she has presented several shows, all choreographed and directed by herself. Sara Baras’s hypnotic footwork has been welcomed in the best theaters in the world. The Royal Albert Hall in London, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, the City Centre in New York, or the Bunkamura Theatre are just a few of the many theaters that have honored Sara Baras, who has always received the best reviews from the public and the press.

Vuela: As her company celebrates its 25th anniversary, Sara Baras wants to pay tribute to the ultimate genius of the guitar, Paco de Lucía. From the respect, affection, and love they shared so much, “Vuela” is born, a show created to be unforgettable, to transport us once again into that magical world that only Sara Baras can create. An exceptional opportunity to pay tribute to the genius of Algeciras: this choreographic journey is composed of 15 unique pieces, each revolving around a word, thus creating words in motion with the flamenco language. A fascinating journey divided into four acts, each weaving a powerful narrative.
