It’s an event for the Festival de Carcassonne: on Friday, July 11, 2025, Isabelle Adjani will honor us by presenting Les Murmures de l’Âme, a captivating creation where emotion and poetry will come to life with an intimate and moving performance that will resonate in the majestic setting of the Château Comtal.

“I discovered the world of ‘reading’ quite recently. It was relatively foreign to me. Not as a spectator, but as an actress. I felt a pleasure of an unknown nature. I was reading Racine, or Duras… It was like a revelation, which produced a new exaltation.
You enter the text, it happens in a vibratory way, between the trembling in the audience’s listening and the trembling of the diction. It is their listening that guides you. And it is so unexpected to feel people so captivated by a single voice, sometimes only subtly accompanied by music.
These readings remain both ephemeral and unforgettable moments. They are inscribed in us forever. When I talk about texts that have moved me like this, I bring no proof to the audience, just my enthusiasm. I find that very beautiful, and it somehow joins an oral tradition.
If the audience were not there, I would not exist. Whereas if I am not there, it continues to exist!… You cannot perform without an audience. When I am a spectator myself in the theater, I wait for something to happen within me, for a desire, an emotion, a reflection to be transmitted to me, or for my thoughts to be altered, for something about myself to be revealed in the face of the world.
An audience that comes to see you perform is an audience that offers you their trust, so that at least a little of that moment of theater makes a difference. That it allows you to enter another reality that puts daily life in parentheses. These are precious moments. Can we live without them? I don’t think so.” – Isabelle Adjani
