Description
An important site in Cathar Country. This major centre for the history of the Cathars is located at an altitude of over 1000 feet and has a panoramic view of seven departments. In the 13th century this medieval citadel had 3,000 inhabitants and was an important centre for the Dominican Order. The church, monastery, St Dominic’s house, Prouille Basilica and the exhibition at the Hôtel Gramont are all well worth a visit.
